Rainbow Girl – The Marilyn Monroe musical

This musical tells the life story of Marilyn Monroe, all the way from her start in a weapon factory to her big success stories in Hollywood to her mysterious, unsolved death. There are no original songs used in this musical, only some allusions to the respective pieces of music, where it becomes instantly known which songs are being meant, e.g. „Diamonds are a girl's best friend“. The only real references to Die einzigen originalen Bezüge zu Marilyn Monroe are some photographs, which can be seen as shadows during the musical performance; For instance, as the Marilyn Monroe actress is about to have the world-famous act pictures taken, the light fades and a bigger-than-life picture of Marilyn Monroe apprears on the stage…

Music: Peter Branka, Text: Werner Alince

World premiere in the theatre of St. Poelten (Lower Austria) in 1992

Comment for producers:

The musical is composed of 2 parts with a total duration of 2:15 hours. For a good performance, a revolving stage is recommended, since the musical plays in different locations.
