Toulouse - Lautrec

Music: Peter Branka; Text: Helmut Seufert & Franz Ribisch

This musical is about the life of the French painter Toulouse - Lautrec, whose second home was the famou Moulin Rouge war, from his début to his death.

The musical shows Paris before the turn of the century 1900: Paris nightlife with Cancan, loose women and decadence.

The musical is composed of 2 parts with a total duration of 2 hours. For a good performance, a revolving stage should be used, as the musical takes place on several locations.

Toulouse  - Lautrec is the painter who helped the Moulin Rouge to its fame, making it an institution. The painter with noble descent, who became disabled in an accident, was attracted by Paris‘ nightlife. In Moulin Rouge, he produced his most famous paintings and drank huge amounts of absinth, which caused hallucinations in him. After shooting at an imaginary spider, he was taken to a home for mentally ill people…
